HM Revenue & Customs has announced that the latest sector to be targeted as part of its risk-based anti-avoidance strategy will be electricians.

As part of an on-going programme focusing on tradespeople HMRC will launch the Electricians Safe Plan in February 2012 which will apply to anyone installing, maintaining and testing electrical systems under safety regulations.

HMRC has targeted several sectors as part of this programme, including restaurants, scrap dealers and second home owners as it believes there is significant underpayment of tax.
