HMRC Inspectors are launching an investigation into white collar workers in an attempt to reduce tax evasion, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The campaign will target professionals earning over £100,000 and includes solicitors, barristers, accountants as well as doctors and dentists.

It is reports that according to the revenue, a significant minority of medical professionals were engaged in tax evasion including failing to declare private medical income.

There is a three month amnesty expiring on 31st March during which anyone can make a voluntary disclosure and will only face a 10% fine on top of any outstanding tax. After this date the usual statutory penalties apply.
