Corporate Filing Deadlines

Posted on Saturday, 28 February 2009 04:29PM by
By way of a reminder to all our clients, the Companies Act 2006 has reduced the period for which private limited companies have to file their accounts with the Registrar of Companies.

For accounting periods commencing on or after 6 April 2008, the time given to file accounts will reduce by one month to nine months after the year end.

The filing deadline will now in most cases be the first deadline for the preparation of the financial statements, whereas in the past it was likely to be the deadline for settlement of any Corporation Tax (9 months and 1day after the year end).

If filing deadlines are missed then new increased penalties will apply from 1 February 2009.

If you have any concerns over meeting the filing deadline for your company then please contact us as soon as possible. Under certian circumstances the Registrar will allow deadlines to be extended.
